History
The story of the mask man begins when Ben Petterson, a seemingly nice guy with repressed violent thoughts buys a white mask (really a semi-living artifact stolen from a tribe in Chines) for his girlfriend, Kathy. Putting the mask on that night and suddenly changing into a green-headed being with near-infinite powers, Ben spends the next several months killing anyone he dislikes and becoming increasingly militant and deranged, until a final showdown with police and his girlfriend leaves him dead. The mask ends up in the hands of police Lt. Liam Garviel, who becomes the next "Big Head", carrying out similar murders against anyone he dislikes, until he finally realized what was happening. The stories over the years followed the mask itself as it went from owner to owner, usually pursued by Liam as he was one of very few who knew the truth.
The story follows twenty-something Edge City banker Ben Petterson as he finds a magical mask, an ArtifactOfDoom endowed with the powers of the Norse (Trickster) god (NorseMythology) , which effectively makes the wearer completely immune to absolutely everything, and capable of practically anything. In Ben's case, this manifests as gaining the Reality Warper abilities of his beloved classic Jay characters (stretching, shapeshifting, bouncing back from Amusing Injuries, and the like). While not quite reaching With Great Power Comes GreatInsanity levels, he does use it to get back on the people that bullied the shy reserved nice guy Ben, and to woo nightclub-singer Tina Carlyle (Jesse Jane). When other less savory individuals get hold of it, the results are not so amusing.
